World Series Parades Date Back More Than 100 Years
The tradition of World Series parades began more than 100 years ago. The first parade was held in Philadelphia in 1910, just two days after the Phillies won their first championship.
The tradition has continued ever since, with cities all across the country hosting parades to celebrate their team’s victory. In fact, the most recent parade was held just a few weeks ago in Houston, Texas, after the Astros won their first World Series.
The parade in Houston was a huge success, with more than one million people lining the streets to celebrate the victory. The parade featured floats, marching bands, and of course, the World Series trophy. It was a proud moment for the city of Houston and for all of the Astros fans across the country.
World Series parades are a time-honored tradition and a great way to celebrate your team’s victory. If your city is hosting a parade, be sure to go out and show your support!

The first New York City parade was held in 1920, just two days after the Yankees won their first championship. Since then, the city has hosted a total of 32 parades, more than any other city.
There are Typically Three Types of Parades
There are typically three types of World Series parades: the victory parade, the rally parade, and the parade of champions.
The victory parade is held after the team has won the World Series and is a time for celebration. The rally parade is held before the World Series to rally the fans and get them excited for the game. The parade of champions is held after the World Series to celebrate the victory.

The Athletics World Series Elephant Float
The Athletics have been around since the late 1800s, and they’ve certainly had their share of World Series appearances. However, they’ve never won a championship.
Their closest attempt was in 1989, when they lost to the San Francisco Giants in the Bay Area Earthquake World Series. To commemorate that loss, the Athletics created a float for the 1990 World Series parade that featured an elephant.
The elephant was meant to represent the Earthquake, as well as the Athletics’ unlucky luck in the series. The float was a huge hit with fans and made headlines across the country.
While the Athletics have yet to win a championship, their World Series floats have certainly been memorable.
