The Texas League is one of three AA leagues in Minor League Baseball, all under the supervision of Major League Baseball. The league was founded back in 1888 and currently has eight teams located throughout Texas. I have had the privilege to own a team within the Texas League since 2007 and I am very proud of our league. It has a rich tradition that started in the 1800’s and I am excited at the opportunity to continue that tradition into the future!
I have been a fan of Minor League Baseball for well over 30 years. Though my family did not attend many games when I was young, I still remember the excitement of going to see future MLB stars play for the local team.

Each team has a rich tradition with many affiliations to current MLB organizations. I believe this makes Minor League Baseball very special!

The Texas League is one of the three Double-A leagues in Minor League Baseball, all under the supervision of Major League Baseball. The league was founded back in 1888. Six of the eight teams are located in Central Texas, while another is located in South Texas and two more call North Texas home. The league has affiliations with 15 different Major League Baseball teams, allowing for a high level of talent to be in the league.
The league is separated into two divisions: North and South. Each division has four teams and plays a 140-game season that runs from April through August. The top three finishers in each division advance to the playoffs with the winner of each division playing

The Texas League has an extensive history with many future MLB stars making their minor league debuts in this league. Some of the most famous players to play in the Texas League include Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, Greg Maddux, Rickey Henderson and Dave Winfield just to name a few.
Current baseball teams in central texas
Some of the current players who have played in the Texas League include former MLB All-Stars Matt Kemp, Robinson Canó and Chris Davis. Several current MLB everyday players also got their start in this league including Josh Donaldson, Hunter Pence, Paul Goldschmidt, Eric Hosmer, George Springer and Wil Myers just to name a few.
What stadiums can be found in the Texas League, and what are their histories like?
There are eight stadiums located throughout Texas that play host to the Texas League. Four of those stadiums are located in Central Texas while another is located in South Texas and two more call North Texas home. The oldest stadium still used by a team today is Hodgetown, a 5,000 seat ballpark that opened back in 1994.
The most unique stadium in the league is Security Bank Ballpark, which was built to resemble a bank. It has metal siding on the exterior, marble floors in the entryway and even has teller windows are located throughout the concourse! This ballpark opened back in 2002 with a capacity of 6,500 people.
