The Capitals beat the Carolina Hurricanes 4-0, the New York Islanders 4-1 and then swept through round 2 without breaking a sweat against Columbus Blue Jackets!
Round 3 was harder – defending champions Pittsburgh Penguins took them on. The first five games were all one each, but in game 6 Capitals dumped them out of the finals with a 3-2 win. With the momentum, Washington also won game 7!

The Washington Capitals came into existence in 1974.
They made the playoffs only eight times in 44 years, and reached the finals twice! The first time was during their maiden season, where they lost to Philadelphia Flyers 4-2. Then in 1998 they lost to Detroit Red Wings 4-0.
The Capitals have a glorious past, but this is their first win! Let’s hope they make many more in the future.

In the finals they took on Dallas Stars again, and it was a hard fought battle! After games 1, 2, 3 and 6 were all won by one goal each, in game 7 Blues managed to win by a score of 3-2 in OT!
